Australia and Spain meet each other in the final fixture of their World Cup campaign.
Australia and Spain are meeting for the first time in international match and both will be playing for pride . Both are likely to give their fringe players a chance on the match which is a dead rubber.
Australia lost their opening match against Chile by 3-1 after Alexis Sanchez starred in the match. They however fought well in the second match against Netherlands but still wen on to lose 3-2 despite being 2-1 up in one stage. Tim Cahill equalized with an outrageous volley after Arjen Robben put Dutch side ahead. Skipper Mile Jedinak put the Aussie in front with a penalty but quick goals from Memphis Depay and Robin Van Persie in quick succession pulled back the match for Netherlands.
Spain had a tournament to forget after they failed to win a match in successive group matches. They lost the first match 5-1 to Netherlands even after being in front via Xabi Alonso penalty. The second game against Chile was more miserable a they were beaten by the South American side by 2-0.
Team News:
Tim Cahill is suspended for the match and will be replaced by Matthew Leckie up front in the attack. Ivan Franjuc and Mark Miligan are out injured and will not feature anymore. Ben Halloran was lively in the previous match and should start in the right with Leckie being pushed up front.
Spain could make changes in the side with the match having no any importance. David De Gea is out injured and Gerard Pique is a huge doubt. Raul Albiol and Juanfran might have their first World Cup starts along with Juan Mata while the substitutes from previous game, Koke and Cazolra both might feature from the start.
