Honduras vs Ecuador: Preview, Team News and Probable Starting Lineup

Honduras and Ecuador play each other in a Group E fixture of the World Cup 2014.

Honduras and Ecuador have met in international arena numerous times. In the last five meetings between the sides, Ecuador have managed to register wins in three occasions while Honduras have ended up in winning side just once. One match between the sides has ended in a draw. The recent meeting between the sides ended 2-2 when the sides met in November of last year. Ecuador have scored 7 goals while Honduras have managed to score 5 times.

Honduras lost their first group match to France by 3-0. Kareme Benzema scored two goals for the winning side while Honduras were unlucky to score an unlucky own goal. Honduras have a slim chance to go through to next round but that will be a tough ask as they need to get at least undefeated games ahead with a win in it.

Ecuador were unlucky to concede a last minute goal against Switzerland which made their chance to go into the next round very slim. They will need a very positive result if they have any chance of going through to next round.

Team News:

Wilson Palacios is suspended for the Honduras team and will be replaced by Oscar Garcia in the midfield. Defender Victor Bernandez is a severe doubt for the match and will be replaced bu Osman Chavez in case he fails to  prove his match fitness.

Caicedo and Enner Valencia are expected to start up front with Michael Arroyo rooted among the substitutes. Honduras were impressive in their match against Switzerland but conceded late in the game to hand the three points to Switzerland.
