Iran and Nigeria played first draw of this World Cup as the teams held for a goalless draw in Group F encounter.

Nigeria dominated a large part of the match but could not score a goal against disciplined Iran side who kept the attack in the bay. As expected Nigeria started the game as favorites and had a first shot on goal when a shot from Victor Moses was saved by the goalkeeper Hagighi. Onazi attempted another shot in early stages in the half but his shot went wide and the game was halt for a while. Joseph Yobo came on for Godfrey Oboabona because of an injury. The game then lit up before the half as Nigeria made continuous attack but could not get past the goalkeeper.
In the second half, Iran too got some chance early on but Andranik Teymourian’s long ranger was blocked well. Javad Nekounam also got a chance to put his team on the lead but his header was not well directed to put his team up front. Shola Ameobi came on for Chelseas’s on loan Liverpool player Victor Moses but his last minute chance was not converted and the game ended in a goalless draw.
Nigeria had much of the possession with about 68% of the match play but could only muster 10 shots in comparison to 9 shots from Iran who just had one third of the game in their hand. Ira committed 16 fouls while Nigeria were fond guilty on 15 occasions. Nigeria won seven corners throughout the match while Iran only won two corners.Andranik Teymourian of Iran was the only player to get booked which he received on 76th minute of the match.
