“If found guilty, i am ready to face death penalty”- ANFA President Ganesh Thapa

Thapa has been President of ANFA for 19 years now and said that he will never think of doing something that will question dignity and prestige of Nepal and Nepalese football in International arena. He said that the money he lend from Bin Hammam was solely our business deal. “The deal was between my company and Bin Hammam’s company and the financial details regarding that transaction has been already proved. There is transparency in every transaction and i will deliver my clarification wherever and whenever needed.”, said Thapa. He said that the transaction was a personal matter and should not be dragged along with football. However, he has promised to show all the transactions if questioned by any concerned department of Nepalese Government.

Thapa also clarified that the news regarding Nepal’s involvement in voting of Qatar 2022 World Cup is just a fluke. “Only 24 country are given the voting rights for the host selection and Nepal has not reach that level. The news of Nepal taking bribe for voting Qatar for the World Cup is something made up and i suggest people to not follow such things”, explained the President.

Thapa who is also AFC’s vice president said that he is innocent and has not put a foot wrong in whatever he has done. ” If i am doing something wrong then why are people supporting me for such a prestigious post like vice president of such a leading governing body? I am doing my job with all my effort and want to uplift the Nepalese Football like i have been doing since decades, as a player, as a manager and as a administrator”, Thapa clarified.

Talking about the recently released 18-points by former VP of ANFA Bijaya Manandhar and co. he said all the points they have presented are laughable. He also said that the ones who are involved in this movement against him are the ones who failed to get any post in ANFA and are just trying to get some attention from others. ” The people who are trying to raise a movement are the ones who raised my name to be the President of ANFA. They did not get any post this time so they are trying to revolt against me. There are some points which were raised in the past and they themselves defended me then, but now they are trying to prove me wrong while i have done nothing wrong”, said the President.
