Brazil and Mexico have met many times in international matches. In the last six meetings between the sides, Brazil has won 3 matches while Mexico has been victorious equal times. Both the teams have scored 7 goals in the process. The recent meetings between these two sides was in FIFA Confederations Cup where Brazil were victorious by 2-0. They went on to win the tournament later.
Brazil won the opening match of this World Cup by 3-1 against Croatia. Neymar scored two goals while Oscar put the icing in the cake with a late goal in the match. The lead came through an unlikely source as Marcelo sent in the cross from Croatian player into his own net. Brazil will be looking to repeat the same performance and book their knockout stage berth.
Mexico were victorious in the first match of this world cup against Cameroon in the second match of the tournament. Oribe Peralta scored the winning goal in a 1-0 victory for the Mexican team. With this win, Mexico have announced themselves as one of the teams eying the knockout berth from the group. If they manage a point at least here, the job will be easier.
Team News:
Brazilian wing-forward Hulk limped off the training pitch and is a serious doubt for the match against Mexico. Bernard was excellent in a substitute appearance against Croatia an could feature from the start if the Zenit forward fails to prove his fitness.
Mexico were excellent in the attack as they put the ball past the goal for three times but two of them were ruled out wrongly. Giovanni Dos Santos was the pick of the players with his creative mindset and could create the Brazilians a serious problem if they fail to cover him up.
