In the first match of the Group of death Costa Rica set a new record as they defeated Uruguay in the world cup for the first time. They came from 1-0 behind to win the match 3-1.
Joel Campbel, 20 years old striker inspires Costa Rica for the one of the famous shocker in the recent history of Football. Uruguay’s star striker Suarez wasn’t featured in the match due to injury. Costa Rica were 1-0 down in the 24th minute after Cavani converted after Lugano was fouled inside d-box. Both teams failed chances to score in the remaining minutes of the first half.
The second half starts with the bang for winning side as Campbell leveled the score in the Ninth minute. Campbell struck in the bottom corner to beat impressive Uruguain goalie Muslera. Within next three minutes of the first goal Costa Rica takes lead in the match after defender Duarte scored a diving header. Later in the 84th minutes the substitute Urena added another to the tally to seal the match.
Joel Campbell was declared man of the match.
