Mexico and Cameroon play their first match of this World Cup in second match of the Group A.
These teams have never met each other in an international match before this so both the team will be looking to get one over their opponent. Mexico were involved in four friendlies matches befire the World Cup and brought mixed results in those games. They won the first two friendlies against Israel and Ecuador by 3-0 and 31 respectively while the recent two matches were against World Cup participants Bosnia-Herzegovina and Portugal which they lost by 1-0.
Cameroon also played four friendlies before arriving Brazil to play their group stage matches. They won 2-0 against Macedonia and 1-0 against Moldova but lost 2-1 to fellow World Cup participants Paraguay. However, the 2-2 draw against Germany just a couple of weeks ago will provide them a huge boost.
Team News:
Mexico are relying their attacking hopes on Orbie Peralta, the forward was the star for Mexico in qualifying period as he went on to score ten goals in that round. 35-year old Rafael Marquez will handle the defense while Andres Guardado and Giovanni Dos Santos are expected to carry the wing play and the creativity of the team.
Cameroon have former Chelsea forward Samuel Eto’o as their skipper and leading man up front. The attacking threat along with Eto’o will be Choupo-Moting on wings having scored two of last three friendlies. Head coach Volker Finke has been giving surprising selection throughout the friendlies and we can expect the similar in this game too.
