Sergio Ramos has had a fairytale season with crucial goals and impressive performance for Real Madrid. Can he cap off a great season with similar performance with his National Team?

The Spanish defender started his career as a right back but now has established himself as one of the best in central position. He played a swing back for both the club and National team but in recent years he has been brick wall at the back. When asked about his change of role from Right Back to Center Back, he replied: “I have adapted and feel comfortable in the middle, but I am a World and European champion at right-back.” However, he was shifted into the central position after Carles Puyol failed to make his place in team due to injury and Ramos partnered at the back with Barcelona defender Gerard Pique.

Ramos was the youngest player to make an appearance for the Spanish National Side until Cesc Fabregas broke the record. He still holds the record for being the youngest player to reach 100 caps for the country. Ramos was the integral part of the Spanish Team that won back to back Euros and World Cup in 2010. If Spain are to repeat the same feat, Ramos will have to play top notch as he is doing with the club this season.

Real Madrid’s double success this season has been influenced by Ramos’ performance along with attacking delight of Ronaldo and Bale. He scored crucial goals in their Champions League triumph with an injury time equalizer in Final and a brace in Semi-final tie away at Germany. He was also awarded the man of the match in Final and made the UEFA Champions League Team of The Year. He also captained Real Madrid in large part of the season with Club Captain Iker Casillas benched ahead of Diego Lopez on goal.
