Turkmenistan will kick off the 2014 AFC Challenge cup against Laos as the highly awaited moment arrive for Turkmenistan that ended second in the group E to make it to the final round.
Turkmenistan face Laos that ended below Afghanistan but ahead of Mangolia and Sri Lanka in the group to make it to the final of the tournament.

Stastically, taking a deeper look into FIFA ranking, Turkmenistan that dropped down to 14 positions in the rank are still way better than Laos that ranks below 170.
Turkmenistan are two times runnerups of the tournament, however they have never achieved the success getting behind DPR Korea in both finals.
Turkmenistan and Laos remains one of the best second placed team in the qualifiers as Turkmenistan lost to Philippines in the qualification round.
Meanwhile for Laos, the tournament remains important one as this is first ever international tournament for Laos.
“We started to prepare in January and had three training camps,” said coach Rahim Kurbanmamedov.
“All the teams have a chance to qualify. In Group A, all the teams also have chance. This is the last chance to qualify for the AFC Asian Cup in Australia.”, the coach was quoted in Asian Football official website, the AFC.
