Football and Cricket are compared since last decade due to its increasing popularity in some region of the world. Givemegoal.com brings you why football is better than cricket in five points:

Football vs cricket

Football vs cricket

1. International participation:  ICC have only 107 affiliated nations while FIFA have 207 countries. Even UN have only 1993 member countries.

2. Time duration: ICC introduced 20-20 format of cricket half decade ago but it is still lengthy comparing to 90 minute game. The increasing entertainment of 20-20 is boring the fans from 50-50 format and test matches. Football’s minutes doesn’t need to be decreased to increase entertainment of the game.

3. Atmosphere:   The atmosphere in cricket and football game is totally different. We can hear fans chanting club and players name through out full matches together but it is very rare scenario in cricket until the moment of wicket, four, six and special achievement of player comes. Even in Nepal the attendance of fans in domestic football match is higher than in the cricket despite cricket is free to watch and in football fans need to pay amount to watch match.

4. Terminology: Cricket is a complex sport. Yes it is a bat and a ball, but there are a multitude of shots, of field positions, of bowling deliveries, most of which seem to have cornered the market on downright stupid names. In football only difficult term is offside.

5. The Weather: Whatever happens, heavy rain, snowfall or gale force winds, soccer must go on. Soccer is played irrespective of weather, but this cannot be said in Cricket’s case.

If it rains, or any other weather problem occurs, a cricket match is either delayed, reduced (in case of limited overs games) or abandoned. Spectators get disappointed for this.
