Liverpool boss, Brendan Rodgers, is wasting no time continuing his rebuilding of Liverpool this close season, as Luis Alberto becomes their latest summer signing.
The 20-year-old has cost the Anfield club £6.8million after impressing Rodgers during a loan spell at Barcelona B last season from parent club,Sevilla.
He certainly fits the mould of player the former Swansea boss is trying to recruit, namely young and skillful on the ball.
Celta Vigo’s Iago Aspas is another wispy Spanish forward who is set to wear the Red of Liverpool next season, with a £6.7million deal agreed in principle with Celta.
Rodgers is not resting on his laurels though, Kolo Toure will join the club on a free transfer on July 1st while a £9million fee has been agreed with Sunderland for the signing of their Belgium goalkeeper, Simon Mignolet.
Once that deal is finalized, Rodgers is hopeful he can ramp up efforts to sign Shakhtar Donetsk’s Armenia midfielder, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, for around £20million.
If he can sort out these deals prior to the start of pre-season it would send out a real message to the club’s Premier league rivals that the Reds mean business next year.
They made a slow start to life under Rodgers last season, a start that ultimately undermined their attempts to qualify for Europe, and saw their football betting odds for the title lengthen.
But the signings of Philippe Coutinho and Daniel Sturridge galvanized the squad in January and ensured they finished the season with a bang, even if they could only clamber up to seventh place.
If they carry that momentum into the new campaign, strengthened by the arrival of at least five new players, then the Merseysiders may well see themselves competing at the top end of the Premier League once more.
