Jumanu Rai’s second half goal broke the deadlock and ended Police’s bad luck as Gurkha cup defending champions missed over a dozen goal scoring chances.
Nepal police club dominated most of first half attack beside Munal’s few long rangers. Dipen Shrestha’s 22nd minute one vs one save by Munal keeper Min B. Basnet remained the first remarkable miss for the defending champions. Bhola Silwal’s miss in 32 minute initiated counter attack move from the visiting team as Dipen Rai shot struck NPC defender which diverted the direction. Jumanu Rai’s fine run from the flank found Dipen Shrestha who placed the ball over the bar just from two yards.
Second half started with couple of miss chances for Police club as the second half substitute Ganesh Khadka missed fine chance placing open header over the cross bar. Two minutes later his brilliant shot was denied by equally brilliant save by Min Bahadur Basnet who remained outstanding throughout the game.
Jumanu Rai broke down the deadlock as he overcame frustration to provide NPC the lead in 64th minute. Ganesh Khadka however missed another goal scoring chance after he failed to connect on a open ballaftter Jumanu Rai did all the hard work.
The rare Munal attack came from left flank for the trailing team but Dinesh Karki’s shot was denied by Ritesh Thapa in 70 minute of the game.
Bharat Shah doubled the lead for winning team as Ganesh Khadka’s shot was saved by Min Bahadur as Bharat Shah utilized the rebound to double the lead.
Rabin Shrestha tripled couple of minutes back, as his shot passed goalkeeper and Rabin himself chased the ball to strike in open post.
