Sherpa scored 3 goals in 6 minutes to comeback from 2 goals down and stun NRT.
New Road Team were clear favorite to gain 3 points ahead of the match but the moment of magic for Sherpa changed the game and NRT were left reeling at the end. NRT opened the scoring after scrambled corner was placed into the net by Sushil KC on 8th minute and just when Sherpa thought they would go into the half with a goal deficit Ajay BK scored a tap in after Segun rounded past Sherpa goalie Amrit Chaudhary and made a patient pass into the box. NRT went with two goals into the half time.
The restart seemed to be same as first half until change from Sherpa coach by bringing in a wingback and sending their CB SB Malla on the frontline worked well. Just as Sherpa piled on the pressure, a long shot by Dhiraj Tamang from about 30 yards was not read well by NRT goalie Raju Yogi and it went in for a goal and Sherpa got a lifeline. NRT coach Diken later in press conference blamed players and goalie for not maintaining their position. Now sherpa were up and their spirited attacking play was awarded when a freekick just outside the box was cooly finished by U-16 aptain Heman Gurung. His curling freekick was not reached by diving Raju and Sherpa equalized. NRT were hit by storm when a briliant counter was finished by Ganesh Khadka whose shot aimed towards low corner was accurate. NRT made changes into the game but Sherpa were all over and seven minutes of play cost NRT vital 3 points.
Coach Diken Suwal blamed NRT players for not maintaining position and losing a momentum cost them the match. ‘We played well i the first half but that 10 minutes of switching off cost us the game’, he said. On the other hand, Sherpa coach Meghraj KC credited the win to spirited performance by his lads even after they were 2 goals down. ‘ My boys were up for the game even though they were couple of goals down and our risky tactics to send SB Malla in frontline proved right.’, he quoted. \
